First the facts: As anyone who saw it driving around town would attest, the jeep always had more than the regulation number of passengers – anything up to a dozen, with arms and legs hanging out everywhere. Now the story: When a new cop came to town he pulled them over and told them they’d have to keep their arms and legs inside the vehicle. This was managed, so Bob says, by half a dozen blokes hopping out the far side and waiting until the new cop drove off, whence they all hopped back in and went on their merry way. All I can say is that cop must have been a damn good sport or in desperate need of glasses.J.
