   Lae-Markham Pre-Independence Reunion 2006

Who:           Sorry folks! It's been and gone this time around. If you aren't already on my contact list please get in touch to add your name, address, phone number and email if any. We may decide to make it a regular event, and if I know where you are I can send you an invitation.

Cost:          $25-00 per person paid in advance. This covered the hire & decoration of the room & audio-visual equipment for the slideshow, printing of banners, a professional DJ/MC, lots of yummy nibblies, hot & cold cocktail-style, and miscellaneous expenses (name badges, wrist bands, plates for food, plenty of pens & stikki notes for exchanging names and addresses etc., plus a souvenir guest booklet for each person to take home with them). James Sinclair, author of Golden Gateway: Lae & the Province of Morobe, was our guest speaker for the night, and gave a great speech on the history of Lae & surrounds. Thank you, Jim! The DVD slideshow run all night on a giant screen was also a big success, as were the polo shirts bearing our logo. Many thanks to Wendy Cheung & Linda Seeto, who donated the ginger and snowdrops, to Joanne & Eddie Van Maanen, Ev Zavattaro and Leone & Peter Humeniuk, who helped man the admission desk and hand out badges etc., to my daughter Belinda & son-in-law Max, who took the photos you can order copies of from the Harvey Norman website, and to my lovely husband, Bob, who did everything possible to see that the night ran smoothly. Thanks also to Wendy, Linda, Robyne & Glenda, who organized the beautiful gifts presented to me and Brian on the reunion night (mine was a silver pen, inkwell, paper clip holder & card index box), to Cheryl Pearce and Les Jackson for their speeches of appreciation, and to those who were generous enough to contribute towards the collection taken up for our gifts. Also to Maureen, Maria & Rosie Lifu who dropped off a basket of flowers, chocolates & Renmark wines from where Maureen now lives. It's nice to know so many people appreciated Brian's and my efforts.

Polo shirts: (see next page for pictures). The supplier will accept  a supplementary order post-reunion for the same price ($20 per shirt plus $5 postage if required). Please contact Wendy as above by 31st October.

Reunion Souvenir Booklet: we had 350 copies there on the night - a copy for everyone. If you either didn't get yours (in which case someone took more copies than they were entitled to) or it was spoiled by food & drink being spilled on it, we unfortunately have no spares. You can download and print a copy yourself (see link at bottom of page).
