William appears in the 1841 Scottish census as living at Woodside, Aberdeenshire along with his mother, Isobel, the rest of his known siblings, and a couple of ring-ins, Charles age 8 and Barbara age 5. Maybe cousins? William's age is given as 20 (it was in reality 22) and his occupation as Cotton Power Loom Weaver.
