James Parsons

James Parsons (Jr.) married a local girl, Mary Ann Winslade, in the summer of 1844 in the church in Farnham. Mary Ann Winslade was the daughter of James and Bethia Winslade, who were living at Bear Lane, Farnham in the 1841 census of Farnham. James Winslade was an agricultural laborer, born in the Farnham area and his wife, Bethia Lampard, was also a local girl. James and Bethia were married in Farnham on Feb.18,1822. I think that Mary Ann was either their only child, or any other children did not survive infancy. James and Mary Ann Parsons' attempts at a family were slow in starting as their first two children each died before they were 3 months old. Their third child survived to adulthood and went on to have a family of his own. I am not sure if James and Mary Ann Parsons had any children in the years 1850-1861, but a child was born in 1862 who lived to maturity and also married. James Parsons is listed in the 1881 census as being 60 years of age and his occupation is one of "Cordwainer" (shoemaker). Mary Ann Parsons, 58, is also listed as living with James in "The Cottage", Farnham, Surrey. Mary Ann's occupation is listed as a needle-worker.

James married Mary Ann Winslade, daughter of James Winslade and Bethia Lampard, in 1844 in Farnham, Surrey, England.¹ (Mary Ann Winslade was born about 1823 in Farnham, Surrey, England and was christened on 9 Jul 1823 in Hungry Hill, Farnham ^{3 4}.)
