George Parsons was born in Upper Hale, Farnham, Surrey and he was a carpenter by trade. In 1857, George married Jane Carey, a girl also born in Upper Hale, in Reigate, Surrey. George and Jane Parsons had three children born to them in East Molesey, Surrey before they returned to live in the Farnham area. The 1881 census shows the family back at Farnham.
