bullet  General Notes:

by Wendy Clarke

At some time after Mary's marriage to George Parsons, they moved to Hervey Bay and then to the Bauple Mountains, where he had the pineapple farm. Later they moved to the township of Kilkivan, where they were both on an invalid/TPI pension, George with some sort of lung trouble as a result of his service in WW2, and Mary legally blind. They had no children. My husband, Bob says the family didn't approve of the marriage as Mary was a barmaid at the time, which they deemed socially unacceptable. He loved visiting Uncle George and Aunty Mary as a child, and remembers Mary as being very artistic: she designed and made dresses, creating her own patterns, made raffia bags and lawyer cane baskets, and turned shells, driftwood, and other odds and ends she collected into ornaments and other nick-nacks that she sold.
