An exhibition of my work and of my painting techniques, using not brushes but a range of palette knives at Mayes Cottage Arts and crafts fair. Mayes Cottage, at Kingston Qld, is a lovely old heritage-listed farm cottage dating back to the late eighteen hundreds, and was originally the homestead for a working dairy farm.

A view from one of the beaches at Byron Bay, northern New South Wales. It is one of our most beautiful coastal towns and somewhat of an alternative lifestyle community, though a little spoiled by becoming suddenly trendy. Here you are looking towards the lighthouse peninsula, the most easterly point on Australia's coastline.

Two slightly different viewpoints of Corroboree Rock in Finke Gorge, NT, not far from our famous Ayers Rock. It is a beautiful spot and also a sacred Aboriginal initiation site, which is of particular interest to me as my Great-great-grandmother was a full-blood aboriginal woman, though not from any of the Central Australian tribes.

She came from a place formerly known and immortalised as Ironbark, but now (rather ordinarily and regretfully) known as Stuart Town - an old gold-mining settlement near Wellington. Her daughter married a wealthy property owner and turned into a snob; my grandmother became estranged from her family because she married a miner.

Another of the many beautiful views from Byron Bay, this time looking out from Watumba Beach. For anyone from outside Australia who might  wonder where Byron Bay is, it's around three hours drive south of Brisbane. Paul Hogan lives at nearby Possum Creek when he comes back to Australia to visit, and it is also where Olivia Newton-John has chosen to make her home.
