Be Careful What You Wish For…

(Completed work in final editing mode)

A story about evil - about one man's obsession to vanquish just one of its many faces. About the damage people do to each other in the name of love, and the all-too-real damage drugs do to people's lives; not just to the lives of the users, but to the lives of the people who care about them...

As Detective-Sergeant Mike MacCauley sits by his unconscious wife's hospital bed after a vicious attack by a man he helped put behind bars, he thinks about what has brought him to this point: a quest for vengeance that has taken him from the tip of Cape York to the poppy fields on the China-Myanmar border. Now he is on a different kind of quest: a journey of self-discovery through the realms of his past, his only chance to win back the woman he loves...

A story to make you both laugh and cry; one that will hit home with parents, sometimes brutally. Drug dealers are not nice people; they are traders in human misery. I make no apologies for either their vocabulary or their actions as portrayed in my novel. My characters are, of course, purely a product of my imagination, but sadly, things like that do happen, even in The Lucky Country.

Sky Dance - an excerpt from
my novel-in-progress

A novel about the aftermath of the Vietnam war and its effect on one man - a Vietnam Vet who has trouble settling back into his former life...

Sacked from his job for losing his temper once too often, Joe Grainger takes people on Tiger Moth joy-flights these days - a decent enough way for a bloke to earn a crust. But things aren't so hot in his personal life. Two years after watching his wife die a slow, painful death from cancer, he meets someone he could truly care about. But what woman in her right mind would want to take on an emotional cripple… a man who'd behaved the way he had since he came back from Vietnam?

A story about shutting people out;  about one man's struggle to deal with his nightmares,  his irrational, sometimes violent behaviour on his own.  About learning the hardest lesson of all: that when a man needs to it's okay to ask for help.
